Thomas Weigend

From 15 to 20 April, we had the pleasure of hosting Professor Thomas Weigend, who shared his extensive knowledge and experience in the field of German and comparative criminal law.

During his stay, Professor Weigend attended numerous meetings and events. Among others, he met with Dr Alicja Limburska and Dr Konrad Lipinski from the Department of Substantive Criminal Law of the WPAIE to discuss a joint project on comparative criminal law. A seminar for young researchers from Digital Justice Center was also held on Wednesday and young scholars had the opportunity to present their research projects and discuss them together with Professor Weigend.

At the end of his stay, Professor Weigend gave an inspiring open lecture entitled ‘Criminal Liability of and for Automated Weapons Systems’, which was moderated by Dr Kaja Kowalczewska, Assistant Professor at the Digital Justice Center.

We would like to express our gratitude to Professor Weigend for taking the time to talk to our PhD students and undergraduates, sharing his knowledge and inspiring discussions.
