
October 9th – Max Wrobel – (IT-) Corporations Assistance to Core Crimes
After the summer break, we were excited to invite our guests to the next meeting of Digital Justice Seminar Series. This time, Max Wrobel, explored the concept of corporations assistance to core crimes.
For the last two months Max has been a guest researcher at Digital Justice Center, thanks to DAAD scholarship programme. His current work focuses on international criminal law in the aspect of corporate complicity in international crimes. The lecture aimed to present the interim status of his PhD project.
As a part of his presentation, Max presented a systematization of case groups of corporate support of international core crimes. Then, he presented the principles of liability for aiding or abetting by failure to act of corporate officers that can result in this type of support. Finally their application were discussed using the example of a German IT company.
Max Wrobel studied law at Georg-August University of Göttingen. Currently he is a Research Assistant and PhD-candidate at the Institute for Comparative Criminal Law at the University of Cologne, where he works under the supervision of Prof. Bettina Weisser. His PhD-project deals with the criminal liability of corporate management personnel for aiding and abetting under the German implementation of the Rome Statute (VStGB).
