During her studies, she was awarded her first research grant and served as Principal Investigator on the project “Biopolitics and Bioethics in Muslim States in the Middle East” (funded by the Polish Ministry of Higher Education, 2014-2018, under the ‘Diamond Grant’ programme).

She pursued PhD studies in Sociology and Law at the Jagiellonian University. In 2017, she was awarded the Ryoichi Sasakawa Young Leaders Fellowship Fund (SYLFF) for a research internship at Bethlehem University, State of Palestine.

Her PhD dissertation, which she defended with distinction in April 2021, focused on contemporary Islamic law in Palestine, Egypt, and Lebanon.

In September 2022, she was a visiting researcher at the University at Buffalo, USA.

Ewa has also contributed to several research projects as an investigator, including “Political Dimension of Violence Against Cities: Urbicide in Palestine — A Case Study” (funded by the Polish National Science Centre, 2020-2024, University of Łódź, Principal Investigator: dr hab. Dorota Golańska) and “EMPATHY: Let’s Empower, Participate and Teach Each Other to Hype Empathy. Challenging Discourse about Islam and Muslims in Poland” (funded by the European Commission within the CERV programme, 2022-2023, SGH Warsaw School of Economics, Principal Investigator: prof. In 2024, she secured funding for the project “Judging Islam: Analysis of European Court Rulings on Islam” (Polish National Science Centre, 2024-2027).

Her research focuses on injustices in legal systems, particularly bias against Islam and Orientalist discourses in Polish and European law, as well as legal narratives surrounding the Palestine Question. She is also interested in critical legal geography and contemporary legal pluralism in West Asian societies.

Ewa is the author of the book Contemporary Dynamics of Islamic Law on Bioethical Issues and co-author of Islam in the Polish Court (with Anna Juzaszek). She has also published numerous articles, chapters, and reports.

She has extensive experience in conducting field research and working on development cooperation projects in the West Asia region.

Ewa is a member of the Law and Society Association, the Asian Law and Society Association, and the Educational Network for Human Rights in Palestine and Israel (FFIPP).

She regularly collaborates with Polish and international civil society organisations and is a dedicated science communicator. Currently, she runs Reorient.pl, a podcast focused on cultural studies and law, and has previously hosted and co-produced the Law of the Future podcast.

Personally, she enjoys wild nature, energetic dogs, and English and Scandinavian crime novels and TV series.
