Kamil Sobański’s research article has been published in the European Journal of Crime, Criminal Law and Criminal Justice

We’re pleased to announce that Kamil Sobański’s research article, “Rethinking Public Access to Criminal Trials in the Context of Virtual Justice,” has been published in the European Journal of Crime, Criminal Law and Criminal Justice, one of the leading journals in the field.

In the article, Kamil Sobański analyzes remote public participation in criminal trials, i.e. the use of broadcasting in criminal proceedings. Kamil outlines the advantages and disadvantages of such arrangements and presents remote public access as possible to be both a transparency measure and a compensatory measure to ensure citizens’ access to criminal trials. His main argument is that remote public participation does not contravene the European Convention on Human Rights or the jurisprudence of the European Court of Human Rights; however, its implementation must be accompanied by safeguards to prevent misuse.
