We’re happy to share the latest article co-authored by Dominika Kuźnicka-Błaszkowska (Digital Justice Center) and Nadiya Kostyuk (Carnegie Mellon University):
“Emerging need to regulate deepfakes in international law: the Russo–Ukrainian War as an example” — now out in the Journal of Cybersecurity.
The authors examine how deepfakes impact individuals and societies during conflict, using the Russo-Ukrainian war as a case study. They argue current legal frameworks fall short—and may even infringe on fundamental rights.
Their key proposal? A recognition of the right to cognitive liberty at regional and international level.
A must-read for those interested in tech, law, and the future of human rights.
