Research Stay Report by Giola Cami
My research visit to the Digital Justice Center (DJC) took place during the first two weeks of November, offering a remarkable opportunity to collaborate with the DJC team while experiencing the unique charm of Wroclaw. I extend my heartfelt gratitude to the entire DJC team for providing such a rewarding research experience. From the dedicated pre-arrival support to the warm reception upon arrival and throughout my stay, their hospitality and professionalism enhanced my visit. I am especially grateful for the time and effort each member of the DJC team dedicated to my visit.
During my research stay, I was granted the space to participate in a doctoral seminar alongside Polish fellow colleagues, where I could share my legal assessment of the complexities surrounding cross-border access to electronic evidence, highlighting the interplay between legal frameworks and data protection principles. In addition, engaging conversations with the senior researchers created a space for thought-provoking discussions in the field of criminal law.
Moreover, I had the pleasure of attending a conference on the TRUE Project, which provided valuable insights into the implications of deepfake technologies on user-generated evidence. The DJC team also facilitated an extraordinary opportunity for me to attend a criminal trial session at the District Court of Wroclaw—a truly interesting learning experience!
Beyond the academic engagements, my time in Wroclaw was enriched by the city’s stunning beauty. The golden autumn had enveloped the city! I thoroughly enjoyed exploring the architectural richness of the Old Town and taking serene walks along the river, moments that will remain cherished memories.
My visit to the DJC was not only an invaluable contribution to my research but also a personally fulfilling experience. I extend my gratitude to Karolina and her amazing team for their kindness throughout my stay. Thank you!
