Networking Meeting on ‘Collecting Digital Evidence during Armed Conflicts’ at UiT The Arctic University of Norway
Kaja Kowalczewska was recently invited to an international seminar where experts in international law, cyber security, and digital tools convened to explore the dynamic realm of collecting digital evidence in armed conflicts. The event, held at UiT The Arctic University of Norway in Tromsø from January 22-24, facilitated engaging in interdisciplinary discussions that are crucial for advancing international criminal justice efforts.
It was a great opportunity to exchange ideas with researchers and practitioners, including those from the ICC and NGO sector (shoutout to Truth Hounds!). ? Kaja Kowalczewska shared her insights on the democratization of the criminal process, addressing existing gaps and the evolving needs within the criminal system, especially in prosecuting core international crimes.
Beyond the discussions, the meeting marked the inception of a networking group comprising experts committed to enhancing research and expertise in the field. ?
On a lighter note, participants immersed themselves in the Arctic culture and enjoyed unforgettable experiences like successful aurora chasing and a beach bonfire at -10 degrees Celsius. ?❄️
Special thanks to Artem Galushko for orchestrating a seamlessly organized event and ensuring the well-being of all participants. ?
