Kaja Kowalczewska’s chapter on the democratization of the documentation of international crimes for the purposes of legal proceedings and on the principle of risk minimization has been published (in Polish), see: https://kipk.pl/wp-content/uploads/2026/01/KIPK_WolneSady_Pokoj_R4.pdf.
This chapter is devoted to analyzing the issue of civil society organization (CSO) documentation of international crimes. Its purpose is, first, to define and discuss the concept of democratization of justice efforts for survivors of international crimes, with a focus on the benefits and risks associated with this phenomenon. Second, the chapter presents two international standards developed in 2022 in response to the democratization and digitization of international crimes documentation.
The chapter appeared as part of the publication ‘Law for Peace: In Search of Effective Mechanisms to Protect the Rights of Those Affected by Contemporary Armed Conflicts’. More information is available here: https://kipk.pl/ksiazki/prawo-na-strazy-pokoju/.
