
Kaja Kowalczewska at International Webinar on Justice for Survivors of Russian crimes
We are pleased to share that Kaja Kowalczewska participated on 17 October 2024 in a webinar titled “Adapting Global Justice to the Crimes in Ukraine.” Her presentation focused on “Reforming International Criminal Law in Poland in Response to Russian Aggression on Ukraine” with special focus on the role of civil society and need of survivor-centred approach.
Thank you to Mykolas Romeris University for organizing this important event, especially to Dovilė Sagatienė and Kateryna Latysh. The roundtable included valuable contributions from: Yvonne McDermott Rees, Thomas Weigend, Monika Rogers, Gaiane Nuridzhanian, Dovilė Sagatienė and Kateryna Latysh.
The event focused on global experiences in prosecuting genocide, war crimes, and crimes against humanity, and how these can be applied to address crimes by the Russian regime in Ukraine. It also compared the legal approaches of Lithuania, Poland and Ukraine in seeking justice for such crimes.
