Kaja Kowalczewska participated in the conference “Universal Jurisdiction…”

Kaja Kowalczewska participated in the conference “Universal Jurisdiction: Accelerating Progress on Justice and Accountability for the War in Ukraine and Beyond” (7-8 October 2024, Prague) organized by CEELI Institute, the International Bar Association (IBA), and the Center for International Law and Policy in Africa (CILPA).

Kaja had a fantastic opportunity to engage with academics and practitioners from diverse jurisdictions (Eurojust, ICC and national prosecutor offices from 🇨🇿 Czech Republic, 🇵🇱 Poland, 🇲🇺 Mauritius, 🇺🇦 Ukraine, and 🇺🇸 the United States), as well as with representatives from civil society organizations working on universal jurisdiction cases (including Clooney Foundation for Justice, TRIAL International, REDRESS, Truth Hounds and Wayamo Foundation). It was particularly valuable for Kaja, in her role as coordinator of the Polish Coalition for Victims, Survivors, and Witnesses (KOOS), to present the latest developments in Poland and connect with the international community of practice. We are optimistic that the discussions and connections made in Prague will continue to grow and contribute to strengthening Polish experience in this critical area.
