Kaja Kowalczewska participated in the 19th Annual Conference of the European Society of International Law

We’re pleased share that Kaja Kowalczewska participated in the 19th Annual Conference of the European Society of International Law, focusing on “Technological Change and International Law” in Vilnius, Lithuania (5-6 September 2024)!

As an Agora speaker, Kaja was selected to present within the panel “Forensic Activism – New Technologies in Human Rights, Migration, and Criminal Justice”, alongside Raphael Oidtmann. Their joint research, “Documenting Human Rights Atrocities for Eternity? – On the Contingency for a Joint Comprehensive Archives for Prosecuting International Crimes”, sparked discussions on the potential for a permanent ICL violations database.  The summary of their presentation will be included in new ESIL Conference Proceedings.

A huge thank you to our panel moderator Dimitri Van Den Meerssche, fellow panel participants Ellie Smith and Matthew Gillet, and the event organizers (special shoutout to Inga Martinkute!) for putting together such an amazing event. 🙌 The conversations and energy were truly inspiring!

Kaja also had the opportunity to connect with colleagues from the Vilnius University Faculty of Law to explore future Polish-Lithuanian research collaborations.
