Early Insights from Kamil Sobański’s PhD Project

In early April, Kamil Sobański participated in the International Law Association (ILA) Young Researchers Seminar held at Jagiellonian University in Kraków and organized by the Polish Branch of the International Law Association (ILA). During the seminar, he presented his PhD research project titled “Virtual Justice: Remote Proceedings before the International Criminal Court – Threat or Opportunity?“. This research, funded by the NCN National Science Centre (2022/47/O/HS5/01229), sparked insightful discussions and garnered valuable feedback from fellow participants. Kamil was accompanied to the event by Kaja Kowalczewska as part of the academic supervision and she had the opportunity to listen to the proceedings of the seminar and speak at it.

Later in April, Kamil Sobański made his debut on a blog curated by the Polish Branch of the International Law Association (ILA). The post, based on the 2023 Annual Report of the Office of the Prosecutor of the International Criminal Court, delves into the evolving role of technology in ICC proceedings, offering a concise overview and summary of his initial research conducted for his PhD project.
