Wojciech Jasiński and Karolina Kremens participated in MEIOR Conference in Leuven

On 25-26 March 2024, Wojciech Jasiński and Karolina Kremens participated in MEIOR Conference in Leuven.

During the Conference, Wojciech Jasiński presented a paper “Where to place legal safeguards in the European Investigation Order (EIO) procedure? Controversies over issuing an EIO regarding information covered by banking secrecy in Poland”, where he focused on assessing the necessity and proportionality of issuing an EIO and respecting the rights of an individual.

We are thrilled to contribute to the MEIOR Project, which explores judicial scrutiny in EIO contexts to find common ground and tackle current and future challenges. The project involves in-depth research on national and European levels, creating practical training materials for a comparative understanding of scrutiny in EIO proceedings.

The EIO issue is also one of the aspects brought up in the FACILEX project conducted by Wojciech Jasiński, Karolina Kremens and Agnieszka Frąckowiak-Adamska. The project focuses on analysis of the implementation and application of three mutual recognition instruments – EIO, European Arrest Warrant, as well as freezing and confiscation orders in 9 EU Member States (Bulgaria, Croatia, France, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, Poland, Portugal and Spain).
