Kamil Soba\u0144ski spent two weeks at the European University Institute<\/strong><\/h1>\n\n\n\n

Kamil Soba\u0144ski spent two weeks at the European University Institute<\/a> (EUI), participating in the “Summer Course on Human Rights: Reenactments of the Ongwen Trial<\/a>,” the aim of which was to reflect on international criminal law.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It was an outstanding experience, based on an experimental teaching method in the form of re-enactment. The script was edited by Prof. Sarah Nouwen and Prof. Wouter Werner, a big thanks to them for organizing and conceptualizing the whole event at EUI <\/a>Law Department! During the event, participants discussed key themes of international criminal law, scenes from the Ongwen trial were mixed with critical reflection sessions with experts (including researchers and practitioners from Uganda) that enriched the whole experience.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Additionaly, Kamil Soba\u0144ski has been awarded the 2024 Academy of European Law Diploma in Human Rights<\/a>. The EUI’s Academy of European Law granted diplomas to only two participants of the 2024 summer course on ‘Human Rights Law’. The diploma exam is primarily based on the course topics, it demands an advanced understanding of the field. Only participants who exhibit exceptional analysis of the subject matter receive the diploma. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Kamil\u2019s stay in Florence was also of great research value. He had the chance to use the EUI library and its resources. The event was also an opportunity for the exchange of ideas between participants from different countries and legal cultures. Moreover, during the workshop he had the chance to present his PhD project “Virtual Justice. Remote proceedings before the International Criminal Court – threat or opportunity<\/a>?”<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n
