Giola Cami<\/strong><\/h1>\n\n\n\n

Giola Cami is a PhD Candidate at the Institute of Criminal Law and Criminal Science<\/a>, University of Szeged (Hungary).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Her doctoral research focuses on the access and use of electronic evidence in criminal proceedings, conducted under the mentorship of Prof. Dr. Krisztina Karsai and Dr. Andor Gal. Her work examines the procedural rules governing the processing of electronic evidence within the framework established by the Council of Europe, focusing on their implications for the admissibility of such evidence. A key aspect of her research addresses data integrity concerns, particularly those arising from potential violations of data privacy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

With an interdisciplinary academic background spanning both the fields of Law and Political Sciences, Giola has been awarded prestigious scholarships – the T\u00fcrkiye Yabanc\u0131 Burslar\u0131<\/a> and Stipendium Hungaricum<\/a> state scholarships, as well as the Excellence Scholarship from the University of Szeged.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

During her Ph.D. studies, Giola has been engaged as a Junior Researcher in the Artificial Intelligence and Legal Order Research Group (AILO.RG) (2023\u20132024) at the University of Szeged. She is currently a member of the research team at the Western Balkans Centre Project, part of the Centre of Excellence for Interdisciplinary Research, Development, and Innovation at the University of Szeged.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On her research visit at the DJC, Giola had the opportunity to engage as a visiting scholar, where she shared her research findings and engaged in academic discussions on the processing of personal data within the context of criminal proceedings. Her presentations and research specifically addressed the complexities surrounding cross-border access to electronic evidence, highlighting the interplay between legal frameworks and data protection principles.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
