Max Wrobel<\/strong><\/h1>\n\n\n\n

Max Wrobel<\/strong> is an Examined Research Assistant at the Institute for Foreign and International Criminal Law, University of Cologne<\/a> (Germany).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Within the framework of his PhD studies, he is currently absolving a research stay at the Digital Justice Center of the University of Wroc\u0142aw under the supervision of prof. Karolina Kremens<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

During his studies at the University of G\u00f6ttingen<\/a> (Germany) he developed an interest in Comparative Criminal Law in its most diverse factettes (historically, horizontal and vertical): his final theses, first with prof. Kai Ambos<\/a>, dealt f. e. with National Socialist Criminal Law (G\u00f6ttinger Rechtszeitschrift (GRZ) 2019, pp 83-94). Later, with prof. Gunnar Duttge<\/a>, he presented a work on the Principle of Expediting Criminal Proceedings (Art. 6 ECHR) in Istanbul (Turkey) (Duttge\/\u00dcnver (Hrsg.), 2021, pp 335-348).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Since his employment at the chair of prof. Bettina Weisser<\/a> in Cologne, he is writing a PhD thesis about Corporate Assistance by Omission to Atrocities, so his interest developed in the direction of International Criminal Law. Besides that, he also published an article about Independent Police Control Authorities from a comparative perspective. (Neue Kriminalpolitik (NK) 2023, pp 81 \u2013 110. (https:\/\/doi.org\/10.5771\/0934-9200-2023-1-81<\/a>).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The three months at the DJC he wants to use for an in-depth look into the Corporate Assistance of IT-Companies to Atrocities. Importantly, he already published articles linked to DJC\u2019s research focus: one piece on video recording of witness examination in criminal trial (Untch, Wrobel, JSt 2022, pp 319-325, https:\/\/doi.org\/10.33196\/jst202204031901<\/a>) and another about the need for a data economy international criminal law (Rechtswissenschaft (RW), 2023).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Besides his interest in all aspects of Criminal Law, Max has an interest in contemporary history of middle and eastern Europe, art and from time-to-time gloomy techno music.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
