European Central Bank Legal Research Programme<\/strong><\/h1>\n\n\n\n

Every year European Central Bank (ECB) organizes a call for research proposals in specified areas that are of its current regulatory interest. In early spring committee of ECB experts selects several scholars that are awarded this ECB Legal Research Programme scholarship and they are supposed to turn their proposals into published articles. First, these awardees present a more detailed concept for said publication to the ECB employees from various fields of legal expertise. Then, they are supposed to submit a final draft. After receiving feedback, the article should be published in an esteemed international journal. If the scholar manages to successfully publish said paper, they receive an award of 5000EUR.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dr Katarzyna Parchimowicz was awarded an ECB Legal Research Programme 2022 scholarship for her proposal on the increasing recourse to the cloud by the financial system. On 12th of April 2022 she presented her work to the ECB Panel for the first time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The preliminary title of the paper is \u2018Do not get lost in the cloud. How EU financial institutions could avoid legal and practical problems with cloud services\u2019. In her work Katarzyna first attempts to identify legal and practical issues that EU financial institutions may encounter at different stages of relation between cloud providers and financial institutions. Then, she analyzes cloud solutions at hand and proposes a technological set-up that could help mitigate some of the spotted issues.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Katarzyna presented this research at the Young Talents in Law & Finance conference<\/a> organized by the Amsterdam Center for Law & Economics and Young Scholars Initiative at the Amsterdam Business School in September 2022.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Recently, she talked about her final findings during ECB LRP Seminar that took place during ECB Legal Conference<\/a> on the 7th of September 2023.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
