Karolina Kremens<\/strong><\/h1>\n\n\n\n

Karolina Kremens<\/strong>, LL.M. Ph.D. habilitation in law, is the Head of Digital Justice Center at the University of Wroc\u0142aw.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Before joining the Center she was working for almost ten years at UWr as an Assistant Professor at the Department of Criminal Procedure where she was teaching Polish criminal procedure as well as comparative and international criminal procedure. She was accepted to the Bar in 2011 and has also experience as the Associate Prosecutor at one of the prosecution offices in Wroc\u0142aw, Poland. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dr Kremens is the recipient of the 2016-2017 Fulbright Scholarship<\/a> (University of Connecticut Law School, USA<\/a>), 2006-2007 Edward Barry McDougall Memorial Scholarship<\/a> (UOttawa, Canada<\/a>) and 2013 and 2014 Vlamssee Government Scholarship (Belgium). She lectured at the Aberystwyth University, UK (2013), University of Exeter, UK (2014), University of Toledo, Spain (2016), University of Bologna, Italy (2017, 2018) and University of Valencia, Spain (2019). She also teaches regularly Comparative Criminal Procedure at the University of Ottawa (2014, 2016, 2018 and 2020). Next year as a recipient of Bekker Scholarship<\/a> (NAWA) she is returning to Canada where she will be leading research project entitled \u201cGender-Sensitive Criminal Process\u201d at the University of Ottawa Faculty of Law (Common Law Section). <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Karolina Kremens participated in numerous national and international research projects including \u201cReasonable Search \u2013 Between Effective Investigation and Rights of Individual\u201d<\/a> funded by the Polish National Science Center (NCN) and \u201cKnowledge, Advisory and Capacity Building Information Tool for Criminal Procedural Rights in Judicial Cooperation\u201d – CROSSJUSTICE<\/a> awarded by the European Commission. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Her research interests focus on the impact of new technologies on criminal justice process, gendered perspective on criminal process as well as on comparative and international criminal procedure. She is an author of many publications in the field of comparative and international criminal procedure. She recently published a book entitled Powers of the Prosecutor in Criminal Investigation: A Comparative Perspective (Routledge, 2021)<\/a> as result of her research project funded by NCN (2015-2019). In her free time Karolina plays hockey (Wataha 71<\/a>) and loves running (including marathons). She travels a lot and hikes in Polish mountains with her husband Adam and two children Karolina Junior and Adam Junior \u2013 they are on their way to winning the Crown of Polish Mountains<\/a>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
