As its name indicates &#8211; it is an initiative which, in the next six years, is to transform the leading Polish universities into research institutions comparable to their counterparts from Western Europe, the United States and Asia. University of Wroc\u0142aw received additional funds in order to achieve this goal. In total, 32 million PLN will be distributed to fund development, research and progress at UWr. Part of this sum was allocated to finance the Academic Excellence Hubs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Hubs have been established for at least five years, each chaired by a director supported by their research team. The aim of the Academic Excellence Hubs is to noticeably improve scientific recognition in research areas which, on the scale of the University of Wroc\u0142aw, have more modest international presence.
